This IDC Perspective discusses the impact of the latest Brexit deal — also known as the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) — on U.K.-based and operating manufacturers. While the zero-tariff outcome have been welcome news, the nuances of the wider agreement pose new challenges and force U.K. manufacturers to rethink their supply chain operations."In the face of a post-COVID-19 scenario and Brexit, U.K. manufacturers face far greater challenges than their European counterparts. Precautionary moves such as stockpiling can only get them so far — going forward, they will need to develop new capabilities. Investment in certain digital technologies — especially those that enable remote vision and enhance collaboration — will be critical on this journey," said Maggie Slowik, research manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights.
