Reskilling the European Workforce for Digital Resiliency

This IDC Perspective discusses how skills development is a critical factor for an organization to become digitally resilient and the actions it should consider. The past year has brought to the fore the importance of having a workforce that can quickly adapt to new tools, technologies, and business processes. Organizations have seen the value of learning and development for existing employees in an environment where hiring and onboarding have been more difficult. "Although already in development, organizations' accelerated their digital transformation journeys in 2020. With this development comes the realization that digital and tech skills are critical to be able to respond quickly and to be able innovate ways of doing business. However, most organizations had to scramble to provide employees with the skills that they needed. As we look to emerge on the other side of this crisis, we must consider how to create a skills development approach to future proof the tech workforce," said Marianne Kolding, vice president, European Skills Practice.
