Macro - Country Economic Forecasts - Maldives

We have raised our 2023 GDP growth forecast for the Maldives by 2ppts to 7.7%, mainly reflecting a downward revision to activity at the beginning of 2022 and a stronger-than-anticipated year-end. Output has now returned to its pre-pandemic trend as the economy quickly recovered from the collapse in tourism activity during the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting massive drop in GDP. We expect growth to slow to 2.2% in 2024.
