IDC's CIO Advisory Board Third-Quarter Update: Navigating the Crosswinds in a Digital-First World

This IDC Perspective provides an executive summary of IDC's CIO Advisory Board virtual roundtable on July 7, 2021. This document describes "crosswinds, headwinds, tailwinds, and mountains of change" for companies, defined as short- and long-term forces of change affecting tech leadership in the digital-first economy. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals are highlighted as a strong crosswind at this stage. This document then looks at what tech leaders are doing to change their business model, including reframing their business model and transforming the role of the CIO.
