European Information and Communication Technology Employment Forecast, 2021–2024
This IDC Market Forecast describes the size and growth of IT professionals' employment by role and region for 2019–2024. The document includes our forecast across 41 different job roles and an analysis of some of the key factors influencing IT professional employment as well as survey results highlighting the impact of the lack of IT professional skills on organizations. It also considers the impact of COVID-19 on the employment forecast."We have seen a shift in priorities during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the underlying digitalization in Europe remains strong. Employment in technology has therefore been less impacted than many other areas. The pandemic has brought additional focus on agility and resilience, and technology has been part of the response for many organizations. As new technologies are adopted and legacy technologies are retired, we can foresee a shift in the IT skill mix in the next four years. IT vendors and their clients need to be aware of these changes, or risk being at the short end in the war for talent," said Martin Sundblad, research manager and head of IDC's European Skills Research.
