We now predict 4.0% GDP growth in 2021 as the economy starts to re-open. Martinique lifted its lockdown measures in September, which had been reintroduced in July to combat a fourth wave of coronavirus. But high numbers of infections combined with slow vaccination rates pose a significant downside risk to the return to normal, especially given the country’s reliance on tourism.
