A resurgence of new Covid infections forced Guadeloupe back into lockdown in August of 2021. The reimposition of curfews and restrictions on gatherings forced us to lower our 2021 real GDP growth forecast by 2.1ppts to 1.2% y/y. Case numbers have since started to decline and the positivity rate has fallen to less than 1.5%, allowing most restrictions to be eased, although the curfew remains in place. The vaccination rate remains relatively low, with only 45.8% of the adult population having received at least one dose despite more than 240,000 doses now being administered each week.
