IoT in the APEJ markets continues to grow steadily as governments, municipalities, enterprises, and industries take advantage of extensive fiber, 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) coverage, and commercial rollout of 5G deployments in the region to execute IoT strategies that enhance productivity and efficiency, build Smart City infrastructure, and capitalize on cloud-native digital infrastructure, including 5G private networking and edge computing, says Bill Rojas, adjunct research director, IDC Asia/Pacific."Although the current COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down IoT spending growth in 2020, we expect public priorities in 2021 to continue to enable IoT for public healthcare and telemedicine, remote/online education, disaster management, automated manufacturing, online retail, food delivery, logistics and transportation, and smart home services," he adds.
