Malawi's economic growth forecast has been lowered by 0.4 ppt to 1.7% for 2023, but is still a fraction more upbeat than last year's estimate of 1.3%. We lowered our growth expectations for this year due to adverse weather conditions and high fertiliser prices undermining the agricultural sector as well as the detrimental impact of high inflation on consumer spending.
