Since fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted on April 15, violence has spread beyond the urban centre of Khartoum to peripheral areas. Both sides are determined to gain a military victory. As such, we have revised our real GDP forecast downward to a contraction of 2.8% in 2023 from the -2.5% we had expected shortly after fighting broke out.
